Never Light Enough, Never Dark Enough is a poem turned book I wrote from the collective memories I hold living the complexities of life as a person of “mixed descent”.

Much of life is sometimes spent seeking validation in all of the wrong corners. The bouquet of roses is a symbol of validation for many, sometimes we are actually the ones who need to gift ourselves that validation instead of waiting for an outsider to do so. The design of “Never Light Enough, Never Dark Enough” is a response and metaphor for the “The bouquet of roses I never received”. I spent years seeking validation from each part of my ethnic makeup when in reality I am the one that should give myself my own validation.
