Inspired by my father who was primarily a nightshift darkroom retoucher for most of his life I prototyped & strategized a nightlight that helps aid dream recall for those that worked most of their lives at night.

There is a huge misconception that we can attain ultimate serenity through the use of green and blue colored light while sleeping but it is those exact same colors that are depleting our melatonin. Blue light and artificial light knocks our biological clock out of order by confusing our body into thinking that it is awake. This is why a lot of people may feel tired even after an 8 hour sleep because their bodies never fully reached a REM state.

Those of us that love to look at our phones or have Netflix on in the background before sleeping have higher risks for depression even while the lights may be dimmed. In addition to this we also have countless smaller LED lights that emit from our clocks, chargers, phones etc that are all contributing to the issue.

Because of the wavelength of infrared light (which is wide), it allows the body to increase blood circulation and promotes healing opposed to traditional blue light (or daylight) which promotes alertness.

Red and amber colored lighting have been scientifically proven to help: Relaxation and a sense of calm energy. Anxiety and irritability. Deeper, more restful night’s sleep. Inflamed tissues.
